Policy on age fraud in competitions
To uphold the integrity, fairness, and credibility of Gatka as a competitive sport, the Asian Gatka Federation (AGF) has adopted a strict zero-tolerance policy against age fraud in all its sanctioned competitions, international events, and selection trials.
Age manipulation not only provides unfair advantage but also undermines the spirit of sportsmanship and the credibility of athlete performance. Therefore, the AGF has taken the following measures to detect and deter such practices:
Verification Process:
1. Mandatory Identity Cards:
All players representing national teams must possess official Identity Cards issued prior to international events and selection trials. These ID cards will be linked to a verified athlete database maintained by AGF.
2. Document-Based Age Verification:
Participants must submit valid and original age-proof documents, including:
• Birth Certificate issued by a government authority
• Passport
• National Identity Card or Aadhaar (as applicable)
3. Medical Evaluation (if required):
In cases of suspected age fraud, the AGF may conduct:
• Physical Examination
• Dental Assessment
• Radiological Tests (e.g., bone age scan) to scientifically determine the actual age of the athlete.
Disciplinary Action:
If a player is found guilty of submitting false age-related information or manipulating documents:
• First Violation: The player shall be debarred from all AGF competitions for a period of two (2) years.
• Repeat Violation: The player shall face a ban of five (5) years, along with possible cancellation of past titles, medals, and rankings.
Additionally, coaches, team managers, or officials found complicit in such activities will also face disciplinary action including suspension and blacklisting.
Responsibility of Member Federations:
AGF member national federations are directed to verify the authenticity of documents at their level and ensure only eligible players are recommended for participation. Strict compliance is expected in the interest of maintaining credibility and transparency in Gatka tournaments.
The Asian Gatka Federation is committed to promoting fair play competition and incorporated best practices from international sports bodies like the OCA, WADA, and World Combat Games. All stakeholders (players, coaches, and officials) are urged to contribute toward eradicating unethical practices and safeguarding the true spirit of Gatka.
