Gatka Training & Capacity Building

To nurture the next generation of Gatka athletes, coaches and technical officials, Asian Gatka Federation (AGF) and the World Gatka Federation (WGF) in collaboration with National Gatka Association of India (NGAI), is offering comprehensive training, coaching and refresher programmes globally—completely free of cost.
These initiatives are designed carefully in accordance with the international Gatka rules and regulations prescribed by the WGF, and are intended to raise technical standards, promote consistency and strengthen the overall ecosystem of the sport.

What is Offered
1. Player training camps (Budding & advanced athletes) :
• Systematic training for new and developing Gatka practitioners, covering fundamentals, advanced techniques, conditioning, footwork, equipment handling, tactical drills and competition preparation.
• Camps are structured according to age group, skill level and WGF technical guidelines to ensure consistency in methodology.
2. Coaching courses for coaches & instructors :
• Workshops and certification courses to impart pedagogical skills, sports science knowledge, technical rules, training periodization, athlete welfare and ethics.
• Emphasis on modern principles of coaching (biomechanics, injury prevention, psychology) as adapted to Gatka.
3. Refresher & certification courses for referees/technical officials :
• Regular short-term refresher seminars updating referees, judges and technical officials on rule changes, scoring systems, video review norms, protest mechanisms, etc.
• Practical mock matches and scenario-based training to refine decision-making and consistency under pressure.
• Certification is granted upon successful evaluation.

Zero cost to participants :
All training camps, courses, seminars and associated sessions are provided absolutely free of charge to athletes, coaches and officials.
Free training material & certification :
Participants receive printed and digital manuals and rulebooks free of cost. Upon successful completion of the course, participants are awarded official certificates at no fee.
State-of-the-art infrastructure & equipment :
The federations continually upgrade sporting infrastructure by adding synthetic playgrounds, playing equipment, video replay setups, timing- scoring & result systems (TSR) and adequate safety gear to ensure high-quality training environments.
Digital & IT techniques in TSR :
Advanced information technology is being integrated into match scoring, refereeing assistance, video feedback (VAR) and centralized athlete databases to streamline operations and transparency.
Future academic & research institutions :
In a landmark step, the AGF and WGF, in association with NGAI, plans to establish Gatka Training & Research Institutes in Punjab (India) and Canada, which will function as centers for excellence, research, innovation, coach development and international collaboration.
