Stuntbazi or Bazigiri

The stunts or ‘Bazigiri’ (acrobatic feats) performed by Sikh youth under the guise of martial art Gatka are very harmful, dangerous and scare the children and their parents who aspire to join Gatka as a game. Such stunts are not part of Sikhi. There is no mention of such stunts or acrobatic feats In ‘Sikhi’ to demonstrate any form of Sikh martial art or Sikh ‘Shastar Vidiya’ neither Sikh Gurus have preached for the same as they have propagated pure Sikhi and traditional martial art among the Sikhs.

World Gatka Federation (WGF) and its affiliated continental units Asian Gatka Federation (AGF), Commonwealth Gatka Federation (CGF), International Sikh Martial Art Council (ISMAC) and Indian unit, National Gatka Association of India (NGAI) had publically opposed such groups who have been indulged in ‘Stuntbazi’ and even debarred them from all types of official Gatka competitions. The WGF has also barred this Stuntbazi in its International Gatka Rules and Regulations Book. In addition to this, sacred temporal seat of Sikhi – the Akal Takhat Sahib, had also warned such unprincipled activists to shun this practice through a Hukam-nama (holy edict).

The Above said Gatka organisations appeal to all Gatka players, enthusiasts and religious heads across the globe not to indulge in such ‘Stuntbazi’ or ‘Bazigiri’ during demonstration of Sikh martial art Gatka at any stage.
