Suggestions for National Gatka Federations

The Asian Gatka Federation (AGF) is consistently working to promote Gatka as an Asian game and working in line with World Gatka Federation and National Gatka Association of India (NGAI) for its inclusion in the Olympic Games. To achieve this, the AGF encourage all Asian countries to establish their National Gatka Federations and take the following steps:

  1. Form & Register a National Gatka Federation

-Establish a legally recognized body (e.g., Gatka Federation of [Country])

-Appoint 7-10 office bearers as per local registration regulations

  1. Create State/Regional Gatka Associations further in your country

Delegate state heads to form local associations under the national federation

  1. Affiliate with Olympic Bodies

Link your National Gatka Federation with your country’s Olympic Association

  • Ensure your state associations should also connect with State Olympic Committees
  1. Develop Players & Teams

Train existing Gatka teams or recruit new players to train them with certified coaches

-AGF/NGAI can provide guidance and support

  1. Register & Organize Gatka Akharas (Training Centers)

-Affiliate all local Gatka Akharas with your national federation

-Maintain a database of training centers

  1. Conduct Training Camps & Workshops

Organize camps in collaboration with Gurdwaras, NGOs or sports bodies

-Follow WGF’s standardized training rules

  1. Host Tournaments

Begin with traditional Gatka events before progressing to professional competitions

  1. Launch a Dedicated Website
  • Promote your Gatka activities, events and achievements online for wider reach
  1. AGF Support for National Federations:

-Provides historical background, rules, and modernization guidelines.

-Assists in coach certification, player development and event management

-Works towards Olympic recognition through global collaboration
